Tonight is the home opener for our local soccer team, the Kitsap Pumas. They're in the Premier Development League, along with teams from Vancouver and Abbotsford north in BC to Portland and Salem south in Oregon. The team consists of players in their early twenties. Most of them are from Puget Sound, but there are also three lads from England.
I spoke with an assistant coach last week and he told me they're also trying to bring a guy from Scotland over.
My wife and I are going, of course. I hope they win. I hope they fill the stands!
Here's a link to their website
Saturday morning update: The Pumas scored first, and ended up tied with Tacoma 1-1. Attendance was about 1,500 - not a sellout but pretty good considering the economy and all. In addition to the three guys from England, (none of whom started), there are also players from Scotland, Canada, France, and Scotland.
